Tendrils with palmettes

The decoration of this capital is based on a combination of spiral-shaped tendrils and the palmettes enclosed in them.
Each side is symmetrically composed and shows the tendril decoration in double s-shaped curves, the one facing the other, held together with a ring. These rings are variously filled with bead ornament. A five-leaf, reversed palmette is placed in the middle between each of the scrolled tendrils.
The same motif also decorates the impost, though there in the form of double tendrils that terminate in volutes and are linked together by a ring.
Both the alternating palmettes and the five- or three-fingered leaves, as also the connecting rings, are characteristic of the Andalusian style of this period.
