Palms
A large palm branch is adapted to each Corner of the calathos. Along ist central spine in powerfully raised in relief three fan-like leaves sprout from small volutes. Below the console block sits a similar but smaller palm leaf topped by two small volutes. The arms of the corner volutes are scored with small vertical grooves, as in many other capitals in the cloister.
The frieze of the bevelled impost block is decorated with a scrolled tendril motif forming roundels in which antithetical birds are set. This motif is similar to N05MS43, but is somewhat more accomplished in carving.
